The Kalingga Kingdom was an ancient Hindu kingdom located in what is now Central Java, Indonesia. It is believed to have existed between the 7th and 8th centuries AD and was known for its advanced culture, including the use of the Hindu-Buddhist script. The kingdom played an important role in the spread of Buddhism and Hinduism in the region, and its art and architecture continue to be studied by scholars today. The kingdom was eventually conquered by the Sailendra dynasty and later the Mataram Kingdom.
