The Chola Empire

 The Chola Empire was a Tamil dynasty that ruled parts of southern India from the 9th to the 13th century. The empire's capital was located in the city of Thanjavur and its greatest extent was during the reign of Rajaraja Chola I and Rajendra Chola I in the 11th century. The Cholas were known for their naval power and their influence extended to Southeast Asia through trade and conquest. They also made significant contributions to the development of South Indian art, architecture, and literature. The empire ultimately fell to the Pandyan dynasty in the 13th century.
