Telangana

Telangana is a state located in the southern region of India. It was formed on June 2, 2014, as the 29th state of India, after the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014 was passed by the Indian parliament. The state was created by carving out 10 districts from the northern region of Andhra Pradesh. The capital of Telangana is Hyderabad, which is also the largest city in the state.

The history of Telangana can be traced back to the 2nd century BCE. The region was ruled by several dynasties such as the Satavahanas, the Kakatiyas, the Bahmani Sultanate, and the Qutb Shahi dynasty. In the 16th century, the region came under the rule of the Mughal Empire. In 1724, the region became part of the Nizam of Hyderabad's dominions, which lasted until 1948.

After India gained independence in 1947, the Nizam of Hyderabad refused to accede to the Indian Union. This led to a military operation by the Indian government, known as Operation Polo, which resulted in the merger of Hyderabad state with the Indian Union in 1948. The state of Andhra Pradesh was formed in 1956, with Telangana as one of its regions.

The demand for a separate state of Telangana has been a longstanding issue in the region. The movement for a separate state gained momentum in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The movement was led by various political parties, student organizations, and civil society groups. The demand for a separate state was based on the argument that the region had been neglected by successive governments in Andhra Pradesh and that the people of Telangana were being treated as second-class citizens.

After several rounds of negotiations and protests, the Indian parliament passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014, which created the new state of Telangana. The act also provided for the creation of a new capital for Andhra Pradesh, as the city of Hyderabad would serve as the joint capital of both states for a period of 10 years.

The economy of Telangana is primarily based on agriculture and industry. The state is the second-largest producer of rice in India and is also a major producer of cotton, maize, and sugarcane. The state has a strong presence in the pharmaceutical, IT, and biotechnology industries. The city of Hyderabad is a major IT hub in India and is also known as the "Pharmaceutical Capital of India."

Telangana is home to several historical and cultural landmarks. The Charminar, a 16th-century monument located in the city of Hyderabad, is one of the most famous landmarks in the state. The Qutb Shahi tombs, located in the city of Hyderabad, are a group of tombs belonging to the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The Warangal Fort, located in the city of Warangal, is a historical fort dating back to the 13th century.

The people of Telangana are known for their rich culture and traditions. The state is famous for its folk music and dances, such as the Lambadi, Dappu, and Bathukamma. The state is also famous for its traditional handicrafts, such as Pochampally ikkat, Kondapalli toys, and Nirmal paintings.
