Short Biography of Rajendra Chola 1

 Rajendra Chola 1 was a ruler of the Chola Empire in South India, who reigned from 1014 CE to 1044 CE. He was the son and successor of the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. Rajendra Chola I expanded the Chola Empire to include parts of South East Asia and Sri Lanka. He also led expeditions to the Ganges river in North India and defeated the Pala king Mahipala. Rajendra Chola I built a new capital city called Gangaikonda Cholapuram which was named in honor of his victory in the Ganges. He also built a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in the city. Rajendra Chola I was known for his military conquests and his ability to maintain a powerful navy.
