Short Biography of Louis XIV

Louis XIV was King of France from 1643 until his death in 1715. He is also known as Louis the Great or the Sun King. He ruled for 72 years, longer than any other monarch in European history, and during his reign, he centralized the French government and built the Palace of Versailles. Louis XIV is also known for his expansionist foreign policies and his role in the War of the League of Augsburg. He is considered one of the most powerful and absolute monarchs in European history, and his long reign helped establish France as the dominant European power of the time.
